Where's your Compass ?
I'm really happy with how my running is coming along.
What's different ? I've learned how to hold back. Finishing with a lot left in the tank is key to running everyday.
4-5 days of clean, relaxed running and 1 day of some steady+ controlled bursts seems to yield some gains for me.
So my basic week looks like this:
Monday - Easy 3-4 miles
Tues- 5 miles
Wed-5 miles
Thurs-6.5 miles
Fri-7 miles
Sat-Off
Sun-Long Run 10-15 ( Rotate every other weekend )
Weight Training
Mon- 1.5 hrs
Wed- 1 hr after Swim
Swim:
Getting in 1 hr sessions 2-3x/wk
Bike:
1-1.5 hr on trainer 2x / wk for now
Mike's BS......
Other things I'm working on are lowering stress levels and proper rest.
I'm one of the lucky folks in that I work for myself. I have my own stress parameters , but I must admit, its on a different level than people that have a superior to answer to.
You can't control life. Its going to kick your ass 20 times to Sunday, but what you can do is anticipate when it throws you a curve ball . When it does - tell yourself that you WILL come out of that predicament, and that you WILL solve it.
Having a strong visual can sometimes yield amazing results, just like that part of the race where you're in a really dark place....you're ready to DNF.....you are on the verge, then all of a sudden you feel better ,your legs open up .... you bring it home. Man ! what a feeling.....GO there !
Thats why I love the image above. Its by Nancy Rexroth from her " Iowa" series.
She captured the essence of life. That Leap of Faith...........there's so much joy and comfort in the image.I love what it stands for.
