Why its important to clear your desk once in a blue moon, or - you'll never find your Reset button.
Since I've been spending a lot of time lately running the backroads its given me time to mull over several ideas, questions and problems.
Is this all worth it ? Why do I enjoy running so much, what do I get out of it ? Am I subconciously running or avoiding something ?
It didn't take long before I decided that being " out" there is my church, my religion and my chance to walk with God, my God.
For those of you that don't know me personally, I spent a good chunk of my life in bad health. Like millions of other Americans I didn't give it any thought or importance, and if I were to estimate how much distance I covered, whether it was walking or running during all of the 1980's I'm ashamed to admit that the total tally might not even be 20 miles !
Yessiree bob ! I was one lazy guy. Even when I was working out in the field during my American West project, I had a 4x4 that took me to most of the remote areas I shot. I smoked Camel straights, drank JD, and ate whatever. My low point was when I tipped the scales at 240 lbs in 1992 ! I carried it OK because of my frame, but I knew something had to be done.
So to make a long story short, becoming what I've become is God's gift to me. I know he's with me whenever I'm out there and HE knows I need this to keep myself whole, centered and with purpose. A purpose driven life is what its all about.
Not that multisport is my priority or end all , its just part of my journey. Being out there allows me to appreciate the simple things in life, things that matter, the Gift of the Day. Man I love that phrase !
After a good morning of S,B or running my mind is so clear. I go into my studio all inspired, invigorated and renewed.
As the alchemist said to Santiago............
" When you really want something to happen, the whole universe conspires so that your wish comes true. "
" Simple things are the most valuable and only wise people appreciate them"
Words to live by.
I now have a secret dream. It WILL come true. Perhaps it might take a while, but its going to be a wonderful journey !
When it happens, I will bring up this post.
Hey folks, enjoy the weekend, the day , the hour . You're alive, healthy and sheltered.
Lots to celebrate .
