Sammy at the lake last summerTGIF
Today's going to be my first outdoor ride of the season w/ my tri-bike.
Supposed to by mid-50's by noon w/ only a light breeze. Hoping to ride at least 40 miles, can't wait.
My lads got sick last night,or at least one of them did. I woke up this morning to crap all over the place. Man was that nasty! Took me about an hour and half to clean it all up. I think it was the left over baked potato my daughter gave them.Had a little bit of butter...so that probably did the trick.
Needless to say they are sitting next to me as I type this entry looking real tired., and dehydrated.
This whole business of bad pet food is scaring the crap out of me. I use Purina , and so far (knock on wood) no issues. I really need to start making their food from scratch.
I met a lady once that swears by brown rice, turkey and oatmeal for her labs. Ground turkey is pretty cheap.
The only thing is that with the trytophan in turkey, it might make them sleepy all day.
So ........since the marathon I've done 2 runs that were pretty painless actually. Wednesday was over 7 miles.
My friend thinks I sandbagged the race,at least mentally and overall effort. He said if I really raced to my ability I would still be in pain, instead I'm almost feeling normal.
In all honesty, I need to do more long races to find out how much pain I can manage. Maybe I am too conservative throughout the race, but a recent DNF will do that to you.
I'm hoping that in a few more years I'll get a handle on the whole marathon pacing/training protocol. My talent doesn't run deep, so I have to take a blue-collar approach to the whole thing and just go with trial and error.
Also since last week, I've put in some quality pool time.
For now I'm just going with time and not counting total yds.
Mon-45 mins
Tue-65 mins
Wed-45mins
Thurs- 30 mins+ drills w/ breast&back
Anyways........enjoy the weather wherever you are and stay safe!
