Catching Up
The last 2 weeks have been great ! Training is as good as it gets for me. Solid bike miles that capped off with my first long ride of the season Tuesday,. 105 miles .
Of that- 65+ miles were hard 34x21 climbing. Did all these climbs at a very relaxed cadence.
My front quads did well until mile 95. I decided to go a little harder on the final climb at Mile Hill Road and it was then that they decided to go Oak on me. Overall better than last year- both in technique and average mph.
I rode with my friend Tomo . It was a back to back Century for him .......
The biggest sucess for me.....sucky ass runner that I am....is how good my legs felt coming off the 105 miler. I ran downhill ( to simulate Placid ) for a mile, then uphill for 1/4 mile and it took almost no time to get my run legs. Man thats an awesome feeling !
All those LONG winter miles are now paying off !
I'm down to 2 swims a week for the time being. For me, it seems to work better. 1 day of drills, then one session thats a long aerobic swim.
I decided that 4-5 days a week of swimming to gain 2 mins off my time is not worth it.
A 1:15 -18 swim is fine for me at an ironman.
