Mr.Clean

One of the things I've been meaning to do for the last few months is catch up on some cleaning.
The garage and my office have gotten scary - so I finally got a chance to get in there and blast away.
It amazes me how much crap I can accumulate. Most of which is mail.
I need to throw the crap out right there and then at the post office where they have a recycling bin.......instead of bringing it home thinking I might actually need it.

Now my office looks great again !

Next was the living rooom. Its been a total war zone since late Spring when my training picked up.
Also, C got me my dream BIG leather chair ! It's a work of art. Its basically one big Coach bag.
So I re-arranged the whole living room to fit it in.

LOL! I felt like one of those Make Over dudes on the Discovery Channel.

Gotta admit it looks very cool and comfy . Time to throw a get together.

I also got a chance to look at Nobuyushi Araki's new monograph. The guy is prolific. There's a Winogrand energy in his approach to picture making.
His nudes leave me cold though....I feel he's too into the Film Noir Tokyo Chic approach.
Weegee did it best.

I also liked the new Harry Callahan Photographer at Work book.
The work just gets stronger as the years pass. His love for Eleanor came is so convincing and honest. The images made in their loft during their early years of marriage hit home for me in ways that reminded me of how C and I started in our wonderful 2 bedroom in Venice.
We had some great years there......and Callahan's images triggered some wonderful memories.

There's a picture in that book done with the 8x10 and a very wide angle lens, probably a 90mm , of their loft with Eleanor nude -holding their daughter Barbara when she was about 5 yrs old way in the back corner next to a bay window. The room was spare with just one bed on the floor,1 table,2 chairs and a dresser. Thats it !

...but man did it glow. He captured the elegant graceful light of life.

I wish I can afford that photograph. Its mesmerizing!

What else.......BBQ'd Sirloin tips and burgers for dinner. Washed it down w/ 2 light beers, humongous salad, mash potatoes and some Ice Cream for dessert.....yup we ate like Kings I tell ya ! Need the fuel for the ride tomorrow. I think we'll do hills.

My daily 6 mile run turned into a 10 miler. It was too nice out there to stick to such a short run. It was hilarious how I kept telling myself just 1 more mile, then another. Oh well. , before you get too impressed, it was a easy pace run, and I mean EASY ! Running like a tourist easy.

Still debating on driving to New Hampshire to spectate Timberman. I've got some friends that I want to cheer on,plus my buddy Bjorn A.. Mr A is racing w/ Chris Legh and Spencer Smith- so its quite the smackdown.

It really sucks that gas is so expensive. Its made driving a budgeted item now, and our MB suv is a freakin gas hog.

Sometime next week I need to place an order with Freestlye for some chemcials and paper since I've got the itch to work in the darkroom once again.
