7/14

9 days out.

We got us a heatwave.
Just got back from a quick 25 mile ride. Its about 9 o F out there and I could feel my Michelins prematurely wearing out.

I'll take it though since summer goes by quickly.

If you've never done an Ironman one of the worse aspects of it is going thru the taper. Its this freakin ridiculous limbo land, a tri geeks Purgatory so to speak. For 6-9 mos your body gets used to mega miles and hours upon hours of training. You get shelled, you eat, rest, rinse and repeat. Day in day out.

THEN ! You go just about cold turkey. The eating trough gets taken away, you do these pathetic girly man sessions of 1-2 hrs a day and thats it.

In the meantime you have radar lock on race day. Shit - I can't function like an adult ! I can't concentrate on business....all I want to do is get to the Start line and get to it. Git er Dun as the rednecks say.

Oh well, just a little over a week then its all over and done with. Life can get back to normal and I can close my season out with the Vermont Sun Half Ironman in August.

I miss all the other aspects of me that I've given up since last December.

I feel like Sushi tonight. Maybe we'll go to Wasabi in Hudson. Very cool little trendy Japanese place on the ever trendy Warren Street. Its the new TriBeca .
