The Last Temptation of the Long Ride
This morning started out as good as Saturday mornings get.
The sun was out, low humidity according to the forecast , and I was heading out on my last scheduled 5 hr bike.
I've put in a lot of miles on the bike since January. And in all honesty I was getting pretty burnt out on riding, so knowing that this was it....I was going to relish this one.
I chose my hilly route so as to put in that last hard effort. Inserted some periods of steady on the BG, but for the most part dialed in my form and honed in on free speed whenever I could. Nutrition was spot on, although towards the end of the ride, I passed on stopping for some water so I could reel in a good ride time. Bad idea, but finally got some at this wedding being held at the Shaker Museum..LOL!
Unfortunately at this point I was thirsty and guzzled a bit too fast- which in combination w/ too much Gatorade Enduro during my T-Run caused some GI distress post workout..which means it would have happened 2 hrs into my run during the race.
So the lesson learned is ALWAYS take small sips at the proper intervals( 10 mins ), and wait at least 30 mins into the run before taking anything in...and start w/ just water + small pc of banana.
The cool thing about the rest of my weeks is that I can focus again on running, start some speed sessions, and also fine tune my swim speed.
The bad is.....NO more EPIC feed sessions though. From this point on its back to normal 2500 cals/day baaaby !
Tomorrow is a 2hr run and then some yard work. I also want to get some new flags to put out since its almost the 4th and I am patriotic still.
I should also try to take the boys out to Queechy Lake for a swim. They need to cool off and get out of the house a bit. Plus, I want Sam to show Mac how to swim like a good Lab.
Oh yeah, I just got done watching Flight Plan with Jodie Foster, I liked it. Just when you think there's been one too many freakin airline movies, bad ones at that, this one comes along with an original plot. Plus she's still a total hottie.
