Today was a Good Day

The last week was very productive, had a few projects that got the green light, and a few more that seem promising.
When things go well I usually have excellent workouts and my motivation level is very high.

With that feather in my cap I decided to go Big today, well not BDT big, but off-season base phase big.
Got to the pool early and put in a steady 3000 yds. Spent an hour in the weight room at the Y and worked on the Hip abductor machine, Free weight squats and some chest and core work.
I can already feel the effects of Creatine loading in my body as my swim was faster than I wanted it to be, and I was pushing the isolated dumbell press repeats. I get big muscles easy- so I put a cap on that. I just want to get leaner and improve my BMR ( Basal Metabolic Rate ).

After that session, got home threw down a PB&banana on wwheat a few hardboiled eggs and changed into my bike kit. I wore my new EMS ultra shock pink longsleeve tech wick mock. With the weekend upon us I wanted to make sure all the mental midgets out on the road and in the backwoods can see me a few miles away. I shoulda taken a pic because that pink along w/ my new bike shorts + black socks made for a very cool GQ/XTerra look. Bond....James Bond !

I was torn between taking out the P3 or the K2 mountain bike since it was 50ish outside, but I wanted a real long Z1 ride and thats very hard to do on the Cervelo : )......so K2 it is.

Did my typical 24 miler in the woods and backroads. Its so awesome to be out there !
I like the indoor trainer, it doesn't bother me like most folks. I can do a 3-4 hr indoor ride w/o issue, BUT nothing beats the open road.

I did feel the squats affecting my ride a bit though, but thats the loading I wanted.

Finished off the ride feeling really good. I'm finally learning how to train I think. Everybody reacts to training plans differently. I think it takes more than a few years of experimenting and listening to what your body is trying to tell you before you can put together a regiment that works for you.

Now when its an easy day.........I make it so easy its stupid.
Now when its a day of some periods of Steady...I make sure its only a few minutes of that and not go Ballistic and go Hero or Race your training buddy day.
Now when its a rest day ..........well , that one I'm still working on.

Now when its a Hard day........I try to enjoy the pain and focus on the prize. And what is the prize pre- tell ? Its the feeling that you have just suceeded on adding another Good Day to your Book of Days.

I miss C. She's in Mexico . She'll be back tomorrow. Can't wait.
We get to do a 16 miler on Wednesday....this time just the 2 of us.
